Although we reach out to everyone with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, our main objective is to win the witch doctors of Haiti to the Lord. Every soul is precious and valuable to our loving God, who wishes for no one to be lost ( separated from Him)for all eternity. In this picture, you can see Augustine (an 80 year old witchdoctor). He practices in voodoo. In the middle is Brother Bob Freeman talking to Walquis, our friend and translator. In the doorway and off to the left are a few of Augustines 20 children from multiple wives (as he would call them). All of his family are Christians, but he is not. Join us in prayer for Augustine and other witch doctors like him that we might win them to Christ. For every witch doctor we see saved has the potential of winning a whole village. They carry that much influence over countless individuals.
Voodoo is very much a part of the Haitian culture. Many Haitians believe that they can practice voodoo and worship Jehovah God at the same time. Some have even said they worship God because He loves them and wants to bless them but, at the same time practice voodoo because they are still afraid of what the devil will do to them (James 2:19, Luke 10:17, James 4:7). Many voodoo priests, like Augustine, really believe they are not doing anything wrong against God because they are doing good for the people who come to them. If someone is sick, needs a job, or having some other need they come to him as they would a doctor or prayer warrior. Unfortunately, God is not pleased neither is He mocked. What ever a man sows that is what he will reap. Many of these voodoo priests merely see their duties as a witch doctor as just another job in order to make money supplying the needs of their families and or for the popularity, power, and prestige it brings them (Mathew 7:21-23).
Witch craft, magic, fortune telling, medium, or calling on the help of the spirit world is not compatible with true Christianity. In Acts 19: 18-19, many of the believers who had been practicing magic confessed their deeds and brought their incantation books and charms and burned them at a public bonfire. Which is why Jacquline (the witch doctor where I am holding the rooster) never returned back to voodoo in over 7 years now. Read what the Bible says about calling on the help of the spirit world in Isaiah 8:19, Ecclesiastes 9:5-6,10, Rev. 16:14, 1 John 4:1,4, Luke 4:35-36.
How can the people in Haiti be set free from the bondage of sin and the enslavement of the devil through the help of these witch doctors? By ministries like ours who are bringing the true light of God's Word which sets the captives free. Passages like John 8:31-32, James 4:7, and the telling of people like Job where we learn satan can do nothing to "a believer in Jesus" unless God first allows. But, at the end of our testing something good will always be our reward to those who stay true to God.
Augustine received Christ as Savior in May, 2017. Pray he stays in tune to the Holy Spirit as he grows in Christ. Augustine passed away January 2018. Because of your prayers and support. You will meet this man who once was lost until he accepted Jesus as Savior.
